HELEN PEARCE

Having escaped the University of Kent in 1988 Helen soon sniffed out a job at the media and marketing bible Campaign as an Advertising Executive. Having sold ad space to media organisations for 10 months she decided that haggling over Card Rates and copy changes was not for her and so picked up her purple penholder packed her bags and went. Helen then dipped her toe into the mighty pool of recruitment when she worked at Kendall Tarrant in their Graphic Design section. A year later having got bored of talking about CADs and CAMs, Helen moved into creative Advertising recruitment spending two years at Career Moves. She then decided that Music was where she belonged and so off to Handle Recruitment she went (Still with the purple penholder in case you were wondering!!). After six years of helping people rich and powerful Helen decided it was time to do something for herself and left Handle to take an extremely long holiday. Returning three months later with a lovely tan and a huge credit card bill Helen (and her credit card company!) decided it was time to get back to work and so The Music Market was born. June 1999 saw the champagne corks popping as the new kid on the music recruitment block began it's quest to get the best people the best jobs in the music industry. The Music Market focuses on all levels within the industry from Directors and Chief Executives through to entry-level Receptionists and post room staff. The aim of becoming a one-stop shop for music world was soon achieved and expansion into Television and the Internet recruitment is planned in the near future.

JENNY DOWLER

Jenny's first foray in to the world of music was after she left Croydon College in 1992 and started up a noisy Indie band which she hoped would soon get a permanent weekly slot on TOTP. The band didn't achieve much apart from performing to a baffled cleaner in an empty pub once but Jenny knew she was destined to be a huge star. She was wrong about this too but did once perform at The Free Brighton Festival with Captain Sensible!! Jenny then considered having a behind the scenes job in the industry on the basis that the grass might not be greener on the other side but would certainly be stronger!! Whilst she was trying to work how she was going to achieve this she worked as a welder/ steel fabricator in the construction industry and managed to ruin quite a few listed buildings and peoples lives in South London. The one day she contacted Creation Records (her favourite label at that time) to try and get some work experience. Days later she was at Creation HQ and soon showed them she meant business and became part of the staff. She worked in many of the departments at the pioneering label but it was when she took control of Artist Liaison that she could come up with the goods. After two years of looking after the likes of Oasis, Primal Scream and the Super Furry Animals, Jenny left Creation and worked as a freelance event organiser, working on anything from Company Christmas Parties through to Album Launches. During this time she undertook a contract booking for a PR company in the Personnel Division and this is how she stumbled upon Helen. Jenny is now second in command at The Music Market.
